I wonder if
Virginia Woolf
walked first

into dark waters
while writing
To The Lighthouse

then returned
to drop the pocketed
stones, on the sand

because
the book required added
light, and a certain weight

to carry it forward into
dawn, before she
saw her own luminescence

gone.
