Don’t hide…

Don’t hide the candle

of your clarity. Stand up and burn

through the night, my prince.

Without your light

a great lion is held captive by a rabbit!

Beauty surrounds us…

Posted in Rumi with tags , , , , , , , , , , , on September 28, 2012 by Mj Rains

Beauty surrounds us
but usually we need to be walking
in a garden to know it.

The body itself is a screen
to shield and partially reveal
the light that’s blazing
inside your presence.

Water, stories, the body,
all things we do, are mediums
that hide and show what’s hidden.

Study them,
and enjoy this being washed
with a secret we sometimes know,
and then not.

Like the moon…

“Like the moon when it’s getting
smaller, yet knowing the fullness to come.
Like a seed pearl ground in the mortar of medicine,
that knows it will now be the light in a human eye.”

~Rumi, from Childhood Friends

Candle light…

Posted in Esoteric with tags , , , , , , , , , on August 2, 2011 by Mj Rains

That light we see is burning in my hall.
How far that little candle throws his beams!
So shines a good deed in a naughty world.
